Published on May 16, 2023
Mary Myers, a recent graduate of the prestigious Shenandoah Conservatory, has had a whirlwind year since graduating in 2022. With a passion for dance that has fueled her journey, she pushed herself to gain experience and elevate her skills. This dedication led her to the iconic Broadway Dance Center (BDC), where she recently completed an intensive program.
Myers’ experience at the BDC was nothing short of transformative. “Being at BDC was like being at the epicenter of the dance universe,” she says. The center, known for its top-notch instructors and rigorous training sessions, provided Myers with a comprehensive education in various dance styles, from ballet to contemporary.
“Every day presented a new challenge, and I was constantly learning,” Myers continues. The days were packed with back-to-back classes that tested her physical and mental endurance. Instructors, many of whom are acclaimed performers themselves, offered unique insights and techniques that pushed Myers beyond her limits.
The networking opportunities were also invaluable. “I met so many incredible dancers and choreographers,” Myers notes. These connections have opened doors to future collaborations and job opportunities in the dance industry.
Reflecting on her time at BDC, Myers emphasizes the importance of continuous learning and adapting. “Dance is an ever-evolving art form. What I’ve learned at BDC will stay with me forever, but the skills I’ve acquired also prepare me to keep growing,” she adds.
As she looks to the future, Myers is excited about the possibilities that lie ahead. Whether it’s performing on stage, teaching, or choreographing, she feels equipped to navigate the various avenues the dance world offers. Her journey is a testament to how dedication and hard work can lead to incredible opportunities and personal growth in the performing arts.
For those aspiring to follow in her footsteps, Myers shares a piece of advice: “Seek out the best training and immerse yourself fully in the experience.” This aligns with the ethos of schools like The WA Performance School, which also provides top-tier training for passionate dancers aiming to excel in their craft.
